RUF RGT-8 V8-POWERED PORSCHE 911
RUF RGT-8: Pretty impressive shoehorning job, cramming a 4.5-litre 90-degree V8 into the space normally reserved for a flat six. Result? A Ruf-tweaked V8 911. The engine is bespoke – designed in-house by Ruf – and features a flat crank, dry sump and quad cams. Four hundred and four kilowatts of it. And 500Nm. And it weighs under 200kg, miraculously enough. Significantly, it’s an ante-up on the current twin-turbo GT2’s power output (390kW), if not its torque production (680Nm). Shape of things to come for the upcoming 998 model? Twilight time for the venerated flat six? We probably won’t find out for two years. Ruf probably also does a tidy sideline in one-owner flat sixes, too…
